Data Integration Tools
Excelerator and CVEC for Microsoft™ Excel™
Excelerator pumps real-time data directly from any CityVision source into Excel spreadsheets allowing Excel based processing on real-time data – a powerful addition to the tool-kit for the market data analyst.
CVEC (CityVision Excel Contributor) allows users with Microsoft Excel to publish data in real-time to the CityVision system and consequently to any other StarNet destination.
APIs (for custom client and server applications)
The APIs (Application Programmers Interfaces) are a comprehensive set of libraries that ease integration with 3rd party systems, facilitate automation and allow you to build your own components to extend the CityVision platform.
The Feed APIs let you write custom applications to receive and contribute data in real-time from/to any appropriate CityVision component, without needing to know the complexities of real-time data handling, line protocols or connectivity. The Feed API is available as ActiveX, COM, C++, Java and .net libraries.
The Transform APIs allow you to change the system configuration programmatically, such as constructing page definitions on the fly according to market conditions. For example, you may wish to source data from different regions at different times of day or vary page content depending on other business rules. The Transform GUIs will still allow you to review and edit any definitions created or modified programmatically.
The Sources API lets you write new source servers, such as feed handlers, for the CityVision system very easily. Servers written using the Sources API will inherit all the speed, resilience and other features of CityVision servers and will be usable instantly by all other CityVision components.
InterCom Objects (for Web Server and Database integration)
InterCom Objects provide highly efficient real-time data integration and interaction with Microsoft™ COM environments, such as SQL Server and Internet Information Server (IIS).
In a web environment they support data publishing using a very efficient http based delivery mechanism, avoiding problems with firewalls or web proxies. Dynamic bandwidth control takes care of slow and variable quality Internet connections, whilst intelligent local caching speeds up initial response time, so users are not kept waiting.
InterCom WebObjects are the ideal foundation for truly responsive interactive Web-based pricing, contribution and trading.
CityVision's SQL interfaces, CVContributor and SQL Pump let you exchange data in real-time with Microsoft™ SQL Server and other COM compliant databases. Other databases, such as Oracle, are catered for with 'plug-ins' which can be customised as required.
